The Cast is On!

So, last Tues. Knightin was able to get his hard cast on. The swelling was very little so I did not have to wait a whole week to get it done, thank goodness! The first couple of days were still a little hard because he couldn't get up on anything himself, chairs, toilets, etc... but he is amazing and can do everything himself now. He doesn't go outside as much as he did with the older kids, the cement and gravel hurt his knees. We were very happy that his preschool teachers let him come to school, with the fact that he will have to crawl around for 2 weeks, 1 of which are done now. They are very willing to do all that is needed. They took in one of there kids that was in a body cast a couple of years ago, so a broken leg was nothing. He has been so much happier being able to go to school. They don't make crutches that small, you can special order them, but they of course are more expensive and take 7-10 days to get here. He only had to stay off of it for 2 weeks, so that was not an option. Todd decided to put together our own crutches, they turned out good, but Knightin couldn't get the balance thing down, we tried for several days, then gave up. Him looked really cute with them though. The picture I took had to be quick, he fell shortly after. I love his sad face picture, he was not at all happy that first day. Except for bathing and carrying him to and from the bus, things are pretty much like normal. Next week he can walk on it, that is if we can talk him into it, he is pretty scared, because of how bad it hurt when it first happened. At the 3 week mark we get to have it x-rayed and if it is healed enough it will come off, we are hoping for speeding healing!
