It's "Derby Time"

Even though we didn't get to go to CA, Todd decided to still take his 2 weeks off, so that we could spend some quality time with our kids. This week we just relaxed, did puzzles, watched movie, and most importantly we didn't do work projects, (the fact that we had rain, most of the week, helped with the decision to do indoor stuff). Friday we went to the Juab County Fair. It was a little weird for me, because in N. California where I grew up the county fair was a big production. It had all your animal stuff, plus the amusement rides, games and all the other crazy things that go along with an amusement park. Here the fair is just the animal stuff and a few competitions, and the rodeos. They also have a ATV rodeo, and have course the highlight of Juab county their Demolition Derby. It is a pretty big thing here and so Todd and I decided to take our kids and join in with the locals. Our kids absolutely loved it. I myself thought it was pretty hilarious, Knightin well he was scared, but still couldn't take his eyes off of the cars crashing each other up and TJ thought it was great and was clapping her hands and bouncing up and down. During the breaks between heats they through stuff up into the crowds. We got lucky and walked away with a Frisbee, a football, and several pieces of candy. As soon as the Derby was over the kids all asked if we could do it again next year. I guess we have created a new family tradition.

That is a very interesting type of activity. For some reason I thought all Derby's were in the midwest.
