I really love corn!

So my title has nothing what so ever to do with my post, but as I am sitting here trying to come up with a name for my post (which I can't think of one), I am also eating my dinner which includes corn, and it is just really yummy, at least to me. So it is completely irrelevant, except for the fact that it is my post and if I want to tell everyone I love corn, then I can. Plus this is also my journal, and later my kids and grandkids can laugh at me for putting dumb things in like this.
I didn't end up posting last week, so now I have a couple of weeks to catch up on. Partly I didn't post, because some of the pictures I am posting today were on someone elses camera. So I decided to wait to get them and didn't get them until a few days ago. My life pretty much can be summed up in a few different areas. I spend my time doing the mom thing (whatever that might be for the week), cub scouts, and helping over at my sisters. If we are lucky we get to add a few other activities in there as well. Last week was pretty much consumed with scouts. It was Pinewood Derby week as well as Pack night, which we had a huge awards night, plus weigh in of everyone car. I had the decorations and the awards, plus I ended up having to finish the two arrow of light awards that week. I got them done the morning of. Cutting it close I know, but when the stuff isn't gotten to me until Monday, it's a little hard to get them done any sooner. I think they turned out great though and the boys loved them. After Wed. night we just worked towards making sure everything went well for the race on Sat. There of course was YW. Cello practice, homework, making meals, helping Mindy, a little family time squeezed in nightly and I think Todd an I even squeezed in a short date that didn't include grocery shopping. That's pretty amazing.
Awards night was great. We handed out 189 awards that were earned by our cub scouts over the summer. We were so proud of all of them. Especially our 2 Webelos scouts. One was Ki, between the 2 of them they eared 79 of the awards. They both earned their "Arrow of Light" and their All 20 super achiever awards, along with belt-loops and other things you can earn while a cub scout. That takes a lot of work, especially in a LDS unit. The boys only have one year to accomplish everything instead of the 2 years.

This is our new "Arrow of Light" plaque that the boys will receive. We have a guy in our ward that his company does the wood working. He can do different raised and recessed thing as long as we work with the MDF type woods. So Todd and I went researching Arrow of Lights and found different things we liked and tried to put them together into one plaque. The arrow was fun to make. It was my first attempt to make more of an authentic type arrow. I Fletched the feather and used artificial sinew to put the arrow head and feathers on. The colors represent the boys cub scout career. Each color is for something different they earned while working towards their Arrow of Light. Then the words on top of the plaque are the 7 values they learn and work on while earning the Arrow of Light. The painting took awhile this time, but I will have a template I can lay on it next time, so I can spray paint the blue instead of hand painting. That will be nice!
My little man, with his plaque!
For Ki's ceremony, Todd went up and painted the Arrow of Light symbol on his forehead while the cubmaster told of it's meaning. Ki was able to have cousins, aunt, uncles and grandparents come to support him. What a fun event.
Though it was Ki's big night, we can't forget about my other little man. He worked hard and earned himself 29 awards. Way to go Kelten! We also stumbled upon some info. for Ki that made him way excited. We found out that if you have earned your Arrow of Light you can go into the scouting program. So Ki will start the scouting program in a week. This news was exciting to him, since he has earned just about everything that you can earn as a cubscout and still has 3 months left until he turns 11. His new goal is to have his scoutbadge, tenderfoot, and the second and first class ranks earned before he is 11.He will probably do it. He loves scouts!!!

Wednesday was also the weigh in day for all the cars that would be racing on Sat. We had 37 entries. I think I got a picture of all of them. We had some fun cars this year.
Here are some shots from the big day. The boys had a blast. We are still working all the kinks out, but it does get better each year. For the fact that we had some major technical difficulties I think the boys did amazing and didn't get to crazy during the down time. We will keep working through the problems that we face from year to year.

So that was last week. This week was a little bit slower, but still busy and is over before we have time to breath. Tile is the project going on over at my sisters house right now, so I didn't do anything over there during the days, I just went over with Todd on the days that he got home early enough to work an hour or two. Tj and I did some shopping this week, we went to the library, Tay got to participate in YW/YM combined activity with the other 2 Mona wards, that was a "Survival of the Fittest" night. We are still short Wolf leaders so Todd and I still are going up on Wed. to help out. We did relays and Ultimate Frisbee and it was a complete success. Wed. Night I ended up getting a nail in our back tire on the Van. We are so not having tire luck with the van. Todd didn't have time to change it out until Friday night, so Monday I will get to take it in and see if they can just fix it. I really don't want to replace it. We also had another Movie night outside on Friday. We invited several of our friends with kids and each of our kids also invited another one of their friends. We got the fire up and going, roasted marshmallows and starburst, then watch Night at the Museum. It was a fun night. The kids were entertained and we got to hang with some amazing friends of ours. Adult conversation is always nice. Sat. we went to Burraston Ponds.to help with Monas Family service day. I believe they try to do it yearly to help keep our ponds area clean. Ours kids had a good experience again, helping and serving, and we got to share another lesson with them. Though all 3 wards of Mona were involved, our family and another dad and 2 boys, were the only ones that appeared to have come. I am hoping other showed up after we left. My kids didn't understand why other weren't able to help. I don't know all circumstances, and I know there are always other things that are precedent over things like this, but I hope that we can teach our kids that serving is so very important and that it will bring us happiness by helping, and for this particular service project, it also helps keep our city clean. After the service project, I dropped Todd and Ki over at Mindy's to work on tile and I went home dropped the kids off and got ready to go take some friends family pictures. I can't wait until I get better, I really love doing it, but I just don't want to take the time away from my family to teach myself all the other skill to be truly good at it. The home we took it at was cutting down trees, so I happened to ask them if we could get some of their stumps. They told us yes, so now we have some great stumps to make seating for around our firepit, we are excited. Afterward we got the stumps at lunch time, I went back with Todd to work on tile and switched Ki out for Kelten. Todd taught Kelten how to cut straight pieces of tile and Kelten did a great job and cut over 15 pieces for Todd. He was in heaven and felt very big. We didn't get home until Ten. Taylar was an amazing help. She made dinner, babysat and ironed all the church clothes for today. How did I get so lucky to have such an amazing daughter.

Movie night! I just don't understand the love of Marshmallows and starburst over the fire, but I'm glad my family likes them. It always makes for a fun activity. We brought out the mattress for the kids to lay on, that was a hit. It was a perfect night for it as well. Not much wind, not to cold, and crystal clear with the stars overhead.
Service, the kids had a blast, and I got some cute pictures!
 My beautiful daughter!
 Just some cool pictures!
The kids found a skeleton of some mole or something. They were so fascinated by it. Todd had fun too, explaining everything to them. the decomposing process, about the bones, how they could figure out what it was. My kids eat this kind of stuff up.
TJ and her Hotdog, :) Todd got to show the kids how to make cattail bombs. They had seeds all over them!
 I love shots like this!
I got a picture of Tay taking a picture.
Tay is so not camera shy, she loves to be in pictures!
 Here are our Stumps!
So when we were loading up the stumps, there were these freaky looking waso things on one of them. 4 to be exact. Andy sqwished them, but Todd and I came home to try and figure out what they were. These are pictures of them. They are named

Megarhyssa atrata - Giant Ichneumon.

Their sole purpose of life is to lay eggs in wood boring larva. Then the babies eat the larva. That long stinger looking thing is what they use to lay the eggs. They don't evven eat as adults. Completely harmless, but freaky looking all the same.  Even though I now know they are harmless, I stll think I would have to kill them if I saw them again. cause they are just to freaky to have to look at. They are like 4 inches long, not right. Harmless creatures should look harmless.

Our new neighbors house was brought in yesterday. It is put together, but still has all the side siding and inside to finish up.
See this is one of those creatures that looks harmless and even cute, but I can't let this poor creature live either, because it causes havoc in my home. This little guy somehow got in the bathtub and couldn't get out. I don't have a problem killing these guys with a mouse trap, maybe cause I don't see it happen. But to actually clean it when it is staring at you all trapped and cute, we could do it. Tay caught it in a cup and we let it go out at the end of Burrastons. It won't be long before another creature eats him, but at least I didn't have to physically kill it.

Another week wrapped up. Today in Church we were studying Romans and one of the things that stuck out to me in a scripture we read was that Christ needs us to become Living Sacrifices. Sacrificing ourselves to him, or at least our time and energies in his service. So this is something that I want to work on. I know it can only bring me happiness and If I could truly figure out how to consecrate myself and my energies for the good, I don't think I would have time to be idle, selfish, prideful, or any of those other things I don't like about myself. I will keep trying. That is all I can do! That is my thought for the week!

Flying, Awards, Movie Night, Princess Party, Hair Cutting aaagghhhh, Pinewood Derbies Done!!!!!

Another full week. Though I do not believe that they will ever slow down again. The world and 5 kids doesn't seem to want that to happen, and I don't even have my kids involved in multiple after school activities. How do these other mom's do it, sometimes I feel like there isn't even enough time to finish all that is already on my plate. Anyway, enough of that. Monday was Labor day so of course the kids were home, they were doing OK but really not moving the way I would like them too. I wanted them to get their work done so we could do something. Todd called about 9ish and said "I am coming home to get the kids so we can go flying with Dr. Hooker."  Me, "OKayyyyyyyy" He needed to explain further.   Dr. Hooker has some Boys Ranches here in UT, that he goes and checks on and takes care of their medical needs. He also owns his own plane, that he uses to do this and other stuff. He hates flying alone, so it was Todd's turn to get to go with him, how cool is that? (the reason Todd had to come home to get them was we only had one car, the other was in the shop.) I ended up calling him back, because I had made arrangements to borrow a car to get the kids down to Spanish Fork, and then I would hang out with the non-going kids, at the park. Saved at least one trip that was unnecessary.   Taylar came in a little after I had talked to Todd and ask if she could have Megan (next door neighbor) over after lunch so they could practice Cello. I told her No, she said why not. I told her because they were going flying. She looked at me for a little bit, then replied. "OK why can't we really practice after lunch" hahahahahaha! I thought that was great. I told the story and she got so exited and went to tell her brother. I was amazed at how quickly things got done after that. They left about 1:30pm, got back a little after 4 I think. Todd, Taylar, Ki and Knightin went. Kelten was in the Plane at first, but before they took off, got a little too nervous and came to hang out with me. He does wish he would have gone now, so maybe next time. TJ didn't want to go, which made it nice that I didn't have to fight that. Taylar and Ki both got to fly some, they couldn't stop talking about how cool it all was. Knightin was so excited that he kept squealing and kicking the back of Dr. Hookers seat. Todd finally had to lock his legs down with his. We might have created a new little obsession with him. Kelten and TJ hung out with me but it wasn't at the park. The van had another slow leak tire,so we went to Wal-mart to get it fixed, which happened to be one of the only ones open on a holiday. I thought it would be quick and we could still hang out at the park, but they had a ton of cars there and it took over an hour and a half. It is dangerous to be stuck in Wal-mart for that long. You can always find stuff you think you need if you walk around for that long, Oh well!
Top picture is the kids checking out the different planes while waiting for Dr. Hooker. Next one is them all checking out the his plane.
 Meeting Dr. Hooker
Just some pictures that we took.
Taylar flying and getting instructions, of course not in that order!
 Ki, flying and looking cute!
Some cool ariel pictures they took. The park, down at the bottom is  the park my kids like to go to in Spanish fork.
Everyone helping Dr. Hooker park it after their fun time flying, thank You Dr. Hooker for such an amazing day for my kids!

This is a video of Knightin. After they landed. Dr. Hooker had to fill his plane up with Gas. It is and old styled pump, and clicks as it is filling up. Knightin decided this sounded like music and was dancing to it. (he definitely dances to his own drummer). I only caught the tail end, not as cute as what he was doing at first and it turned out a little blurry, but I think it is still way cute, turn the volume up to hear the beat and enjoy, it is really short.

Not much picture worthy stuff for Tues. and Wed. It was working at my sisters, doing sanding, vacuuming, and masking off windows and electric boxes, and at home working on finishing up arrows for the arrow of light( I think they turned out cool, but I won't post them until they are on the plaques), Putting together a shopping list for my sister to buy the awards for pack night this week. We have 189 awards to hand out on Wednesday, our Pack was busy over the summer. 80 of them are going to My Ki and another boy who took it upon them self to earn their Arrow of Light and their All 20 Super Achiever award. We are also helping with The wolf Den, the leader is having some health related issues, so we have combined the two dens and so they have a huge group of 18 to 25 depending on who comes. We played Human Battleship, which I think turned out pretty fun, but man we have some unruly boys, who kept trying to ruin for the others, and it was so loud. We will see how the relay races go next week. We get a week off kind of because of Pack night and the Pinewood Derby this Sat.

Thursday felt like a non-stop day. I left with Todd at 5:20 in the morning to go pick up his car in Provo. This was worth it, since it is always nice to get my car back, though I will be dropping the van off soon because the fan is broken in the AC/heater, so if I don't get it done soon I will be sorry, cause the cold frosty days are going to be here before we know it.  Came home got the kids off to school, did some finishing up of loose ends, and then got cleaned up just in time to go into Nephi to run all kinds of errands. I got done about 1:15 pm and didn't want to come all the way home just to have to back to pick Taylar up from school. I thought her doc. appointment was at 2. but found out it was at 3:30 instead, but she was still planning on the pick up. Went home watered the back yard. Got kids started on jobs and homework. Took Tay to her appointment. Was there for an hour and 45 minutes. Found out that she has to wear her boot for one more week, had to console a very sad, frustrated daughter after that. We then went to the bakery to pick up a cake for the Roundtable recognition ceremony that night. Went home, took a shower got ready, made dinner, got that cleaned up, ironed Ki's scouts shirt and neckerchief, got him looking all handsome. Todd squeezed in at the last minute to get ready so we could leave to get there by 7. We spent the evening there, ate dinner, and witnessed  Ki getting recognized for earning his All 20 award from the district, pretty cool! Wheewwww! crazy day.

Ki shaking hands and getting his certificate!
Isn't he so cute?! My kids in public I think are some of the most gracious well manner kids around, I wish I could get them to be that way at home. He was smoozing everyone.

We didn't actually finish all the cars until yesterday, but have slowly been finishing up all the wheels this week. Here are the finished products!
 Todd's
 Ki's
 Tay's
 Kelten's
(disclaimer, so many people have loved the candy bar, and this has made Tay a little jealous, because this what she was going to make, then changed it to the flip flop. She wants to make sure everyone knows the candy bar was her idea.)
Knightin's ( they love Phineas and ferb )
TJ's ( it's a butterfly, in case you were wondering)
My Nephew Brendan's ( this sucker was so heavy we had to almost completely hollow it out to get it down to the 5 oz. max weight)

Friday was a little slower, still working on little projects (it's amazing how many little details there are for our big pack night and derby) helped over at Mindy's. Then at 8pm went to pick up my nieces and Nephews for a outside movie night. We  don't have our screen wall built out back yet, so we had to hang out in the part of our yard that was still dirt, but it was still fun. We were impressed with our little cheap projector. We probably had a 12 ft screen that was clear. We didn't expect that, we just bought it to have date night movies in our room, not needing much for that. It is so nice that projectors don't cost as much anymore. Todd has been wanting one since we got married. We will see if the inexpensive one will last for awhile. We watch two movies. It was a little chilly, but we snuggles up in blankets and the kids had little tri-fold mattress or chairs to hang out in. Good times.
Wow, this is turning out to be a long post. So here is a picture of my cute little princess. It was her Birthday yesterday. I like to do little slideshows on their birthdays, but I couldn't this time, because my huge hard drive that holds mine and many other peoples life for the last 7 years, appears to have crashed losing everything. I may seem calm about it, but Tues. when it happened I was anything but calm. My brother-in-law our computer geek of the family, has high hopes of retrieving all the info. He has co-workers and friends who work miracles when it comes to re-covery. I am hoping and praying. They say back-up things on an extrnal source, so what do you do when your external source is what crashes? (cry, that is what you do!)

Anyway back to the more important subject. My birthday Princess. TJ is so much more of a girly girl then Tay was. Everything in her life is frilly and usually pink and purple. Princesses are huge as well as little ponies (cause she can comb and play with their hair) So we decided to give her a princess party, nothing big and fancy princess, but very princess themed. She loved every bit of it. She got tutu's, jewelry, tiaras, wands, princess tablets, little ponies, princess panties, and a princess fleece blanket. I wrapped all the little toys, then wrapped them up in the blanket, then wrapped the blanket. She opened the blanket, and went to move it, and realized there was something in it. I wish I would have caught her reaction on camera, because it was classic, and she was so excited that there was so much more stuff. So very cute. Also, this year she has her very own ideas of what she wants, and they were very specific. For her cake, she wanted white cake, white frosting, and orange filling. (all the flavors were given and she definitely wanted orange cream.) She needed white, orange and pink ice cream and she had to have pink fish for dinner (salmon) There was no swaying her on any of that. She is also getting quite the attitude, but that part is not so cute and we are working on it.

 Love it! All decked out!
She was so tuckered out, that she feel asleep about 6:30 that evening. We were working at the table and she scooted in behind me and fell fast asleep, wand in hand, her bag full of her presents as a pillow all on top of her new blanket. So didn't want to let go of them. Happy Birthday Princess Tanyda!!
I thought this was a funny picture and situation. The black and white dog is my parents dog Meya. She doesn't like little kids as much as my parents would like (still working on that one) and is very possessive of her home and my parents, when it comes to other animals. She never bothers people. She is getting used to my sisters dogs and cat, but she is not around Hershey that much. Hershey wanted to sit with my dad, and Meya didn't want her to do that. She would nip and growl at her and chase her away. Well, Hershey got up  one time and Meya was on edge. Very tense and growling. She would stay in the stance she is in , in the picture. Hershey would look over at her then look away and cuddle into my dad, almost smuggly. I can't explain it in a way that would do it justice, but we were all laughing so much while watching the mad dog with the smug dog who got what she wanted.
Sunday Night, the kids found this ugly spider thing in our living room. It was only about 3/4 of an inch, but very weird looking. I have seen this before but only outside. It reminded me of the big scorpion spiders in the middle east, that hit the internet a few years back, so I looked it up, and sure enough that is what it is. They are called camel spiders, they aren't venomous like the stories and it is obvious that this little guy is not like its brothers of the species that can get 3-8 inch. I guess that the bigger ones can give a nice wound when they bite that are prone to infection. I'm glad we just have little versions of this creature in UT. I don't know if I would handle it very well if I came across a 6-8 inch one of these. The one on the right is off the internet, the one on the left is the one from our living room.
Hair cutting again. I found blonde hair, and started to panic, it was to long to be Knightins, which leaves TJ. Not again? Lucky this little section is all that appears that got cut. It was again Knightin, he admitted it! When I do her hair, you can't even tell it happened, YEAH!! I informed TJ that this was the one time she could haul off and hit her brother. She can not let Knightin cut her hair ever again.

The other things that have been going on, is Taylar is getting much better on the Cello, she knows several songs now. She has her first concert next month and is very excited. She is detirmened to be ready for it. Knightin starts Extended day Kindergarten today. I hope this helps him. He is going through some disipline issues at school, I guess he isn't doing as well with the structured classroom setting as I would have hoped, we will get through it though. I have talked to some other moms that have kids that struggle and they are having the same problems. I also am going to die before his school career is over. I know that I am not very patient when it comes to homework stuff and I haven't had to do much with the 3 kids so far, so Knightin is a new experience for me. I was helping him work on his homework, which one of them was working on writing his name. I think I was insane before we were done, and he still didn't get it all done. And what he did wasn't readable. He kept shutting down on me, and saying that he couldn't do it. This is a thing he has been working on in preschool everyday for the 2 years. This is going to be a long year!
Yet another week in the McAllister's life!

Busy week, but just ordinary!

This week went by so fast.I was busy the whole time, and before I knew it the week was over. I took absolulty no pictures, just wasn't that kind of week.
Re-cap of the week. I started going over and helping my sister on their house. They are down to finish work now, which is still a ton, but this is when the house all starts coming together. I have done a lot of caulking and spackling. Maybe some painting this week. I mowed and weed-eated my yard and then reseeding. Got my visiting teaching done, made the monthly Relief Society baord and got it hung. Todd and Tay made cookies ( lots of them) for a Daddy/daughter date cookie cook off for YW.  I carpet cleaned my living room and playroom, cleaned the office, which ends up being a collect all for the whole family. Got the Arrows for Ki and Bradens Arrow of Lights made, They turned out pretty cool. Helped with scouts, wolf leader is in Tesax for some medical testing so the wolves are combining for the month of Sept. That will be a group of up to 20 boys, so Todd and I volunteered to help out. Boy they are a rowdy group. We have a sick daughter, who has been throwing up, so a little extra laundry and then of course just the normal everyday stuff that has to get done, just being a wife and mother. We are still a one car family this week, and we don't no for sure when Todd's car is going to get done. That is a curse for having such a good and amazingly honest mechanic, he is always so busy. Hopefully this week will be the week to get it back. It hasn't been to bad, because the the ability to get to ride 4-wheelers around town. I can get to the school to pick up Knightin, got o the Post Office and get to and from Mindys house to help work on it. I did have to borrow a car once to go and get the rest of my money into the bank, so my mortgage could be paid. So all is good at the McAllister's house. I hope TJ gets feeling better soon. We have another busy week this week, so I need healthy children.

Cars, Aliens, Anniversary, Pow wow, and Home

This week started out fixing a slow leak in the van tire. You can't tell that great in the picture, but it is a little lower then we would like. We had filled it up a couple of time, and within a couple of days it would be down again, OK time to just go in and get it fixed. Which I am glad I did, because now it is getting used on a daily basis by Todd.
Monday night there was radiator fluid that spilled out all over the driveway out of Todd's car. It was to late to do anything about it that night, so Todd took the van to work and I called and have a friend come over and look at it to see if he could tell where the problem was. He found it and it wasn't to big of a thing to fix.
We had to replace one of these babies. It was the upper radiator hose that had a leak in it. We got it replaced, but there was some other suspicious looking stuff going on in there, that could give us problems in the near future, so off to the shop it went. Hopefully it won't take to long. I have to admit, though I don't leave very often, I do like to have a car around. I have mostly used the 4-wheeler for little quick things around Mona this week. I love living in a little town where you can do things like that.
Isn't this a lovely outfit my daughter adorned herself with? I was out watering the grass and this is what she came out in. I'm glad they do learn modesty with age. Love it!
Another thing we tackled this week was my boys room. This was only half of the room.
By time we were done, I was feeling better about life.
TJ is very girl, she loves pink and purple, princesses and she loves carrying her purses with her ever where, she has even started sleeping with one. For her birthday in a couple of weeks we are doing a princess party.  So I ordered the stuff to make these non-sewn tutu's and it came in so I decided to make them, giving me something a little more fun to do for the week. I think they are so cute. She will love them.
This little blob, was a highlight of our week, well my kids anyway. Knightin came home from school with an egg on Monday. If you put this egg in water you could grow and Alien. For whatever reason all 5 kids were intrigued with it. The instructions said 2-3 days. Our little alien took all 3 days. Isn't it precious?
TJ doesn't take naps anymore and hasn't for almost 2 years, much to my sadness. Every once in awhile she gets too tired and crashes. Today I found her zonked out in the pile of clothes that needed to be folded. I guess the clothes were just to inviting and comfortable.

Thursday was Todd's and my Anniversary. I went and stole Todd away from work at lunch time and we went out to eat. As you can guess from the picture, we went to Red Lobster. We both love seafood, but Todd loves, loves crab and it is crab fest time. We hardly ever go here, because it is just way to expensive, and whether or not we have had the money, I think it is ridiculous that anyone should have to pay that much. Oh well! I liked our birthday better, when we went to the Spaghetti Factory and got a free meal, because we stood up from like a minute, when they had to get some more wine out of the bench we were sitting on, and didn't complain. Why can't that happen all the time?! :) The food was good though!
Todd also bought me a swing. We have talked about a swing since we got married. I love them, but we have put it off because I want one that hangs on my porch. But sadly we do not have a porch and won't have one for at least 4-5 years. So we finally broke down and got one that hopefully will last until we get our permanent one. Bonus for us, it also folds down into a bed/hammock thing. I believe it will be used daily until it gets to cold.
Sat. Todd and I spent the day at Cub Scout leader Training in Orem. Todd and I have both been in Cub Scouts for 4 years. Things still don't run as smoothly as I would like them too. We have had a ton of turn over in leadership and it makes it hard to stay on top of things. I was hoping to go and get some great helpful ideas, and I did get a couple that I hope to implement. But I actually knew more then some of the teachers, and some of the cool ideas that they shared that I believe the boys would love, I'm not sure we can ever get going in our pack. So I came away a little discouraged, but also I saw that a ton of packs are struggling way more then we are, so we can be proud of ourselves for that. We are a fairly new ward. Not even 4.5 years old yet. So I guess we are doing OK. So that sums us up for another week.
